PCES Harlem Shake

Here is the video of the PCES Harlem Shake at the Relay for Life dance.

It was certainly fun to watch, and raised some money for a great cause.

Enjoy!

Multiplication Update

Parents,

We have been working diligently on multiplication since August.  The time has come that hard work is really paying off for so many.  Last week we introduced multi-digit multiplication in Math (two, three, or four digits on top x one digit on the bottom).  We are continuing to work on this daily, however this website is great for creating your own/printing off extra practice, or you can make up your own!  Be sure to check your child's work.  We want to make sure we are not practicing anything the wrong way.

Those students who are still struggling with basic multiplication facts, will want to continue to study their 0-12 facts nightly, so that they do not continue to fall further behind.

Thanks for all of your help.  Practice at home reinforces skills that we have learned in the classroom!

Parent Surveys

Dear Parents:

Every few years, Phenix City Schools goes through an accreditation process. Part of that process involves input from you.  Please take the time to take the survey sent home today, and return it by Friday, April 12.

*You may write comments on the questionnaire.
*Please bubble in answers on the provided answer sheet.
*When you return it, please put it in your child's folder.  It must be electronically scanned and must stay clean and undamaged.

Your input is critical.  Every time we survey parents, we learn so much about how to make our school better and more effective.

THANK YOU!

Weekly Update

Parents, a few reminders:

Weather Journal:  Students should be writing an entry per note on their weather journal, detailing the days weather.  This is a test grade and a writing grade.  This coincides with our study of Earth's Atmosphere in Science (chapter 8).  Please be sure your student is not forgetting!

Library:  After weeks of book fair and recarpeting and rearranging in the library, they are finally back open and students can check out books!  Some students have not brought back their library books in quite some time.  Please make sure they are reading nightly, taking AR tests, and checking out new books in the library!

Tic Tac Toe:  We have quite a few students who have fallen very far behind in tic tac toe.  This is a weekly Spelling homework assignment.  Lesson 25 is due this Friday.  Any student who has not turned in tic tac toe this nine weeks currently has a 0 and has lost conduct points.  I will accept late work and will change the grade once the assignment has been completed.

Please be sure you are staying on top of your child to get homework completed each night.  Many students seem to be getting 'spring fever', but we have much more to accomplish this school year! : )

Thanks for your understanding and partnership!

Spring Fling

Tuesday afternoon was our annual PTO Spring Fling.  We had great weather and a great time!  A big THANK YOU to all of those who helped out, sent donations, or allowed your children to attend.  Our PTO was able to raise some money that goes right back to our school and students.

My favorite parts were spending the day outside and watching the kids run around and be kids!
